Burak Delier

Burak Delier is known for his creative experiments built around the concept of economy, in a way and scale that is not common in the art scene in Turkey. Delier is also known for his ongoing interest in the place of power in today’s cultural system and socio-political environment and is one of the major examples of a politically critical contemporary art attitude to art in Turkey since 2000. He uses various mediums, from radio broadcasting to corporate surveys or guerilla-style street performances and works with papermen, precarious workers, immigrants and the employees of art institutions.

Burak Delier, born 1977, is an artist based in Istanbul and a graduate of the University of Yildiz (MA) and the University of Marmara (BA). Selected solo exhibitions include Freedom Has No Script at Iniva in London (2014) and Play Your Part And The Script Will Follow at Pilot Gallery in Istanbul (2013). Selected group exhibitions include Artist Film International at the Whitechapel Gallery in London (2014), Joyful Wisdom at the Rezan Has Museum in Istanbul (2013), Art Facts at SALT in Istanbul (2012), Details at Bergen Kunsthalle in Bergen (2011) and the 2010 Taipei Biennale in Taiwan.
