Volkan Aslan is an artist from Turkey based in Istanbul working with a range of materials and media in an interdisciplinary and inter-medial way. Aslan’s recent practice is influenced by the artist’s memories and the malleability of our perception of the passing of time. These memories; half-remembered, half-forgotten; draw him to certain items he comes across on his day-to-day business that remind him of past experiences.
Volkan Aslan, born 1982, is an artist from Turkey based in Istanbul and graduate of Mersin University and Çukurova University. Selected group shows include Pi at Q Contemporary in Beirut (2012), Art Dubai with Pi Artworks(2012), Contemporary Istanbul with Pi Artworks (2012 and 2011), Marrakech Art Fair with Pi Artworks (2011), If The Nature is Heaven, The City is Hell at Cer Modern in Ankara (2011) and When Ideas Become Crime at DEPO in Istanbul (2010). Aslan is also a co-founder of 5533, an independent non-profit contemporary art space in t Unkapanı, Istanbul.
