Ben Schumacher is a Canadian artist based in New York. Before studying Fine Art in New York he studied architecture and worked for several architectural agencies. From his brief experience in the field he has retained a great interest in diagrams, notes and drawings, as well as for maquettes, samples of materials and the many variants of communications media, printing and reproduction techniques. He also collaborated with working architects for his 2013 solo show at Bortalami Gallery in an exchange of space between the gallery and firm Diller Scofido + Renfro. His work examines the “drift” of digital content within social networks and hints at post-humanist ideas of technological progress surpassing the limits of civil flesh.
